REACH
Definition
REACH — Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. The name REACH comes from Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals.[1]
REACH establishes the EU's core system for collecting information about chemicals, assessing their risks and managing those risks. Where applicable, companies must register substances they manufacture or import and provide information on properties, uses, hazards and risk-management measures; higher-risk substances may also be subject to authorisation or restriction.[1][2]
For wet wipe manufacturers, REACH may involve raw materials, chemicals in wipe solutions, packaging materials and other substances or mixtures. “REACH compliance” usually does not mean one universal REACH certificate; it means that the relevant materials, substances, mixtures or products meet their applicable REACH duties and restrictions.
