PPWR

Definition

PPWR — Regulation (EU) 2025/40 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 December 2024 on packaging and packaging waste, the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.[1]

PPWR establishes common requirements for packaging and packaging waste placed on the EU market, covering packaging reduction, recyclability, recycled content, labelling, packaging design, producer responsibility and packaging-waste management as part of the transition to a circular economy.[1]

PPWR entered into force on 11 February 2025 and generally starts to apply from 12 August 2026.[2] For wet wipe manufacturers, flexible films, plastic lids, resealable labels and cartons may all be affected by relevant PPWR requirements.
